About Paradigm® Combat Sports
Paradigm® Combat Sports Training Center is Sugar Land's home for high-performance combat athletics. Since 2009 we have built a community where first-timers and seasoned fighters train side by side — refining their craft in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Boxing, Wrestling, Kickboxing, and MMA. Our 4.9-star rated facility serves athletes from age four to sixty-five, with dedicated fundamental tracks for every discipline and a competition team for those who want to test themselves in the cage or on the mat.
This app is the digital sanctuary for Paradigm® members and prospective athletes. It exists to give you a single, no-frills view of everything the gym offers: the weekly class schedule, membership tiers and pricing, the coaching roster, the recovery amenities, and the facility itself. You can register for upcoming events, request a birthday party booking with a secure deposit, and find answers to the questions we hear most at the front desk. Whether you are a parent looking for a safe introduction to combat sports for your child, an adult chasing your first class, or a competitor chasing a title, the app is built to get you from curious to on the mat as fast as possible.
Paradigm® is built and operated by a coaching staff of professional boxers, black belts, and decorated wrestlers, supported by a front-desk team that keeps the engine running six days a week. The digital experience is maintained by the Paradigm® team in Sugar Land, Texas — right off 59 and 90 — serving the greater Houston area. Our mission is simple: to enrich lives, build community, and equip our athletes to be champions in life.
Welcome to Paradigm® Combat Sports.
I grew up in Sugar Land and went to First Colony Middle School. At the time, there was no wrestling in the Houston area. I was a kid who loved to roughhouse, full of energy with nowhere productive to put it. That energy often got me into trouble at school.
I wanted to wrestle so badly that my parents sent me out of state to a boarding school in Virginia that happened to have a strong wrestling program. Under Hall of Fame coach Dick Glover, I became part of a system that taught us we could beat anyone if we were willing to work hard enough. I bought in completely. By my senior year I was a state champion, and I went on to wrestle Division I at UC Davis.
In 2009 I founded Paradigm® out of pure love for the sport of wrestling. We started small — free lessons on a borrowed mat inside an abandoned YWCA. Over the years we have grown and expanded into boxing, kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and MMA. What has never changed is our mission: to inspire our athletes to become champions in life.
These sports are about far more than winning. They build character. They develop confidence, resilience, and an unshakable belief in your ability to overcome challenges through hard work.
Our values guide everything we do:
Whatever you do, do it well. Give your best. Be your best.
We measure success by the positive impact we make. A word of encouragement, a belief in someone who doesn't yet believe in themselves — that is the real work.
When you walk through these doors, you are surrounded by people who want to help you and push you. You are in a place that will be a positive influence in your life.
Even in individual sports, no one succeeds alone. Your training partners are the single biggest determinant of your growth. The most selfish thing you can do is be unselfish.
As the gym has grown, so has my purpose. I now have three kids, and my dream is no longer just for myself — it is for them. I want to create the perfect training environment for my own children. My litmus test for every coach is simple: Would I want this person coaching my kids? Today I can say with complete confidence that every coach and team member here meets that standard. They are highly skilled professionals and, more importantly, good people who will be a positive force in the lives of our athletes.
One of the most important lessons I have learned is this: the biggest determinant of success is your mindset and your belief that you can improve through consistent, repeated effort. It will not be fun at first. It will not be easy. Nothing worth having ever is. Do not expect overnight results. Do not get frustrated when you struggle. Keep showing up. Keep working. You can improve at anything — wrestling, jiu-jitsu, academics, life — through sustained, consistent repetition.
Thank you for becoming part of our team and our community. We are genuinely glad you are here. We will do everything in our power to help you improve and achieve your goals. Come ready to work hard. Come ready to be consistent.
If you ever need anything, just ask.
Welcome to Paradigm®.
Now let's get to work.
